The Cycle University Varsity cyclo-cross program will once again be taking on the Northwest cyclo-cross circuit for 2012. All of these riders and support personnel have been recruited for both their professionalism, ability, sportsmanship, attitude, committment to the sport, and the ability to work in a team setting.

The Berg's host the 6th Annual Cavanaugh Roubaix

Yesterday (Sunday) was the 6th Annual Cavanaugh Roubaix "mini-fondo" ride.  This ride is a 57.5 mile ride that feels like 100 when you are done.  The ride starts off at the Berg's house and includes miles of rough chip-seal roads with steep punchy climbs all the way up to Lake Cavanaugh in Skagit County.  Then a narrow single lane road through old growth cedar trees around the lake and onto the "Roubaix" gravel road.  The road is fast at first as it heads up a super steep pitch for the last 1/4 mile to reach the top of the pass.  Then a harrowing descent on gravel transitioning to pavement back down to OSO and S.R. 530.  From there its back towards Arlington and finishing at the Berg's house.  The ride is designed for racers and recreational riders alike, and has plenty of challenge for everyone.  There are two locations for both sprinters as well as climbers to win points during the ride with fun awards during the after ride BBQ.
Cycle U-PopCap riders; Chad Berg, Kristi Berg, and Tim Ellis all took part in the ride.  13 riders completed the loop with the support of two support vehicles carrying spare wheels, tools, food, and water.
The final results for intermediate competitions where as follows:

Mens Sprinter - Tim Ellis/Cycle U-PopCap
Womens Sprinter - Kristi Berg/Cycle U-PopCap

Mens Climber - Dominique D'Angelo/Collision 1
Womens Climber - Kristi Berg/Cycle U-PopCap

Mens Most Inspirational - Fillmore Norris/SCFD 7
Women's Most Inspirational - Sue Isaacson/Nana

Another great Cavanaugh Roubaix ride and thanks to those that came and had fun with us.
