Big Win at 24hrs of Spokane!

June 26/27 was the 13th annual 24hrs of Spokane mountain bike race.  Racers competed in a team relay format on the 15 mile course near the Spokane river just outside the city.

Cycle U - PopCap had both an Elite Women's squad and an Elite Men's squad filled to compete with riders from all over the Northwestern states.  The women's team consisted of Kristi Berg, Melanie Lewis, Kristy Kelsey, Jody Connelly, and Courtenay McFadden.  The men's squad had Sean Kelsey, Evan Renwick, Chad Berg, and Brendan Connelly.  Both squads were supported by fantastic family members; Sue, Pat, Dan, Al, and Pat.

After 24hrs of constant racing, the Men's squad took 5th place out of the 36 elite teams, and the women took 1st place amoung the best women's teams!  Congrats to both squads, especially to the women who had the pressure going in as the pre-race favorites.  They stayed level headed and focused to complete the race with a large gap over their closest challengers.

Cycle U-PopCap continues to be a dominant force in off road racing as the 2012 'cross season looms on the horizon only 3 short months away.
